  • What to do when it's hard . . .

First of all, for anyone who reads this today - today is the Land Nav test for Colin.  (You can read the previous posting for more specific prayer requests.) Please be praying.  Thank you so much for praying for both of us.  I haven't been able to hear from Colin, but I know God has been blessing me even though it's hard with my guy being away, and I pray that He's been blessing Colin too.

I ran across this Bible verse on my dad's desk this morning, and it just spoke to my heart...

"All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.'  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.  Be alert and of sober mind.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lioon looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your fellow believers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.  And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast."  1 Peter 5:5b-10 TNIV Bible

I guess what I noticed was that things can be hard, we can have difficult days, but we can cast ALL our anxiety on God because he cares.  Others may care but not understand, but God cares and understands.  That's special.  Also, God never said life would be easy, but He did tell us to resist the devil, to not feel sorry for ourselves (cause fellow believers around the world are dealing with the same kinds of things we are), and rest in the promise that after a little suffering, God himself will restore us.  I'll become strong, firm and steadfast.  I don't know about you, but that's a pretty amazing promise.  Praise God.
